Guinness On Tap (Appropriately: On St. Paddy’s Day)

Journalist Rebecca Guinness, seen above taking a break while skiing in Vermont, last month, files this report from Paris.

It was one hot party after another during Paris Fashion Week. Hip New York store Opening Ceremony attracted a pack of visiting U.S. designers at their bash on Sunday night at legendary Parisian bo Regine. Only some were in the city for work: “I just came to have fun,” said Jason Wu, who was chatting to stylist Keegan Singh. Over on the dance floor, man-about-town Derek Blasberg was spinning Kova and T fashion label’s Dasha Zhukova, while Kai Kuhne circled the room and Elise Overland chatted to Matthew Earnest and Lily Atherton Hanbury. Philip Crangi mused about the economy: “Paris does seem more low—key this time—there just aren’t as many people.”

The following night, Stella McCartney celebrated her collection in Saint Germains with Jefferson Hack D.J.’ing in a small club covered in fractured mirrors. Photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, D.J. Leigh Lezark, designer Bryan Reyes, and socialite Coco Brandolini sipped beers on the crowded dance floor. The Gossip’s Beth Ditto was hanging out with Stella on banquets at the back. When Jackie Bollan, owner of the Dallas boutique V.O.D., produced a T-shirt proclaiming love for various fashion figures including McCartney, the designer exclaimed: “I can’t believe my name is listed first on this! I’m going to cry!”

Another Magazine and Chanel threw a joint bash at the Chanel store on Tuesday night with Kate Moss, Lily Allen, and YSL designer Stefano Pilati present. Kate’s ex, Jefferson Hack, who was throwing the party, sipped cocktails across the room with his fianc裠model, Anouk Lepere. A select few were invited upstairs to Coco Chanel’s apartment, where Karl Lagerfeld was holding court and stories were being told of the celebrated space. “People are going to be coming to see your apartment in 50 years,” he said to Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

Ditto continued her domination of Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday by playing at the latest Fendi pop-up club at the VIP Room on the rue de Rivoli. Appropriating the Fender F, it seemed only appropriate that the Gossip played to a packed room. Lagerfeld, Fendi’s designer, watched from the balcony while Mark Ronson and socialites Alexia Niedzielski and Antonia Thompson danced downstairs. After the gig ended and the club emptied out, Alexa Chung took to the decks chatting to designer Henry Holland and Moss, who was in a floor-length silver dress. Moss’s boyfriend, the Kill’s Jamie Hince, reappeared with Ditto. “I’m not brave,” Ditto said of her recent naked appearance on the inaugural issue of Love. “Everybody should do it!”
