Montell Williams,  Gaye Watkins and  The Husband of Bide A Wee CEO Nancy Taylor  Roq out in NYC.

Who let the dogs out at Guastavinos at 409 East 59 Street in New York?  Bide a Wee at there 2010 Gala. Well behaved dogs, no drama queens please, strolled through the cocktail hour with their owners and made new friends. The love and respect that many guests have for their pets and Bide A Wee is limitless. Montell Williams the MC for the evening spoke of Bide a Wee for dogs and cats as ”a path to a new beginning “  and the need for animals and pets to be rescued from the gulf area due to the recent BP oil spill.  Many dogs at different tables barked during and between applause from guests. Montell quipped “..the dog applause is great, by the way”. The tattooed stars of National Geographic‘s reality show Rescue Ink, were honored for their commitment to animal rescue. Rescue Ink is on call 24/7 facing difficult conditions and responding to calls to save helpless or abandoned animals from neglect or abuse. As one of the founders of Rescue Ink said to the nights audience, “Just invite us in, and we’ll be over there.” I spoke to Anthony a.k.a. Big Ant. He said he always wanted to perform animal rescues with his friends and is looking forward to a new season in the fall with a new network which he was not at liberty to mention. But was very proud to say that they were receiving dog and cat houses which students in Far Rockaway, New york, built for Rescue Ink. A Lhasa Apso, named Biggie, was hugged in a tight embrace by his owner. Said the owner, ” I don’t know what I’d do without him.”  Another owner claimed her Shih Tzu was half human as she gently slid the dog a bar glass filled with water. I spoke with guests, Mr. and Mrs. Cook who proudly showed a  plexi glass cased photo of their cat Charlie Cook who could not attend. One woman with a bull dog terrier galloping the stairs to the dinner spoke of her four legged, very determined and constant companion.  “He has a fit when I leave him at home, its crazy.”  There was also, the Jack Russell Terrier who couldn’t help but gaze at his reflection in the upstairs mirrored walls. I was told it was his first time seeing his own reflection. Like most good looking males he was hypnotized. Many dogs that attended  were once shelter dogs and adopted as adults. All showing support for an organization always ready to give pets like them a new chance.
