Seigo Seigo Seigo (Holiday Tip #1)

Spectacular Seigo ties at 1248 Madison Avenue are New York‘s best kept neckwear secret. Ties, Bowties, Silk Scarves and Hankercheifs round out the boutique’s entire inventory.

Seigo Katsuragawa came to NYC 20 years ago to attend FIT. His secret: his ties are woven in Japan with looms normally employed in the making of Kimono’s, and his limited edition of eight intricately colored and patterned ties (ask to see them) ensures an upscale unique look for about $80.

We particularly like Seigo’s solids ($75), which have a unique muted weave thats a refreshing break from the standard shiney satin look we’re seeing too much of these days. The tiny shop buzzes with lovely attentive japanese sales girls that may know simply too much about ties. Seigo has the largest collection of bowties in the city.

Ties as a gift: Boring. The right ties as a gift: You will see the light of Christmas in the tasteful giftee’s eyes for sure. 212 987-0181
