Erin Fetherston Spring ’08.

A smart WWD reporter wrote about cheap looking fabric and nothing much going on outside of monied branding with Fetherston….and though we liked the Fall collection that writer was writing about (alot), this Spring Collection is in danger of proving that writer’s words true. EF is talented, and should find an exciting expansion of what she was hinting at in the Fall 07 collection, taking the sheer casual look she presented and creating a kind of easy-going but luxurious evening wear out of it with great capes collars and gowns and more in the hat department, rather than less. Build off of that Fall 07 show, rather than cave in under it, or peal off of it. This season was simply flat-out too flimsy, and to be truthful, so are our images. No one on the end of the runway at least, did much better. Not much to work with here. But fetherstone is doing well branding wise….and branding this stuff in the Target world probably is doable.
